Look what I found! • September 20, 2015
All too often, when I’m trying to draw swiftly and economically, I get so locked on what I’m chasing after that a quite good drawing gets rejected. Into the scrap pile it goes – usually deservedly. It’s a big stack of paper too, which is convenient – I need a lot of throw away sheets to use as a surface for adjusting brush and ink loads. Now and then though, when I grab a few sheets, I find a forgotten drawing that with fresh eyes seems just fine. It’s a nice surprise, and a continuing reminder that I should keep trying to judge drawings in the moment without predisposition.
Here are two more drawings from the same session that mark the end of that particular chase. I’m not sure if they’re better than our rediscovered kitty, but now I’m happy with all three!
