Two From Norway • September 12, 2016
Rislagnipa – Vik i Sogn #9 & #6, 2013
India ink and surface alteration on paper. 16″ x 20″
These are two versions of the same view, chosen from nine done in a single day. My sis and I were set up in a wheat field, looking towards the top of valley where my sweetie, Reidun, was born. It’s mythically beautiful there. And it’s only about two miles from the sea. Almost an incomprehensible amount of drama in that landscape!
I was painting really fast, so these pictures are completely driven by immediate, aggressive brushwork – and a lot of scraping. What a fine day it was. I particularly realize that seeing this work now!
